Ok, it's officially fall now, and closing in on time to seed our prairie-to-be. Unless you've been away to another planet, you've probably heard about the persistent rains recently in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. "Relentless downpours" would better describe the weather this past week.
Fortunately, I'm a seasoned (no pun intended) procrastinator and haven't ordered our prairie seeds. They would surely be overcome by the healthy and disgusting crop of weeds flourishing.
Later: Ok, so thistles and their fellow gang members won, temporarily. They were so huge and defiant that we decided to postpone planting until spring so we could attack them while they're still a bit groggy.
Jerry sprayed again, it's time for a good hard freeze, and we'll look forward to creating a prairie in 2017.
